The first post to the new year!
Usually i'd write about how bad the previous year was for me; But this year i'm not going to do that. I've given up on always focusing on the bad things without properly realising all the good sides everything has. This goes for feelings towards myself, loved ones, situations and even things.
January 2019 is slowly coming to an end just as fast as it started. I couldn't be happier to see the year progress for me in such a fast pace. I guess to me that means i'm actually doing something with my life for once!
I started an internship at a health and wellness company this month. Never really saw myself as anyone who would be passionate about dieting, knowing what ingredients there are in everything, etc. But honestly, to my own surprise, i've been really enjoying the things i'm learning there. Not forgetting to mention that everyone is super friendly and understanding. Of course, i'd love to be somewhere else a little more prestigious, but no one ever got that far so fast. This is my learning curb and stepping stone to something better.
Definitely i can't say that this month has been 100% easy sailing, but then again nothing ever really has just one side to it. Everything in this world has it's good and bad, it only depends on which you chose to weigh on more. In a couple of years or even months (cause i suck) i'll read my posts and wonder what was it that was bugging me so much at that time for me to come home and put in my time and effort to write something so negative. Of course it's only unleashing trapped emotions, but my posts have always been so biased. I only ever cared to write about the things that either hurt me, annoyed me, worried me, etc. But not the things that i really loved and enjoyed during then.
I learned a lot this month all on its own. I'm definitely eager to learn and to grow mentally and emotionally more this year, but i've put my expectations of myself a little lower this time so i can keep up with myself. I'm bracing myself for the lessons i'll learn this year, understanding and coming to terms with the fact that i will never grow if i'm comfortable where i am or with what's occurring around me. People only grow when they've been hurt. I'm okay with that.
One of the lessons i've learnt this month is so never pretend to be someone you're not, no matter what the situation may be. Learning not to be so afraid of what people are going to say about me or the way i express who i really am. You don't need any form of external affirmation when it comes to being who you are. You click with some people and sometimes you don't and that's okay. You can NEVER be everyones friend. It's simply impossible to ride the same wave length with people who are just not on par with yours.
Another lesson i learned, remember to treat other people the way you want to be treated but never forget the way you deserve to be treated in return. You can always care for someone as tender the way you want them to care for you, but know your worth. If you are aware that someone is taking you for granted or not treating you the way you should be, say it straight to their faces. If you don't, at the end of the day who's going to be the one who's sad. You.
Put effort into yourself as you'd do for others.
You are important. Be kind to yourself.
